B.L.iT.S: Basic Leadership Training School

Post by Col.Kell »

The time I was gone those 5 days in Tullahoma, I went to this thing called B.L.iT.S. Its kinda like a very, very grueling boot-camp that reinforces teamwork and teaches leadership. Just some of the pix shown below are taken from the Cadre (the people who ran the joint)

There were no "cadets" there with "rank". I wasn't a Technical Sergeant, there were no Airmen, we were all BUGs. Undergoing relentless training both mentaly and physicly (we had three Marines to "take care of us"). BTW, this guy you keep seeing in these pictures, thats ME!
This was one of the many times when we had to rush out of the barracks to go from one place to another.

Here we were at chow. Always being sure to "square" our meals; lifting everything at right angles and sitting in the 1st 6 inches of our chairs.

The BUG 500: pushing ALL the bunks in the center of the barracks, and doing laps around the room, be it sweeping or crouch-walks.

This was a "Drill-knockout" competition between 15 BUGs. I won :D

Nice, looks like ya had a relatively good time there all in all. :)
James 3:5-10: My Reminder
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

You must be talking about when it was over  seriously, it was sports when we had "fun". I liked it especialy because Alpha flight (flight is AF equivilant of "platoon") kept beating Bravo (we were Alpha)! After graduation, the Marine Cadre were not the sadistic whipcrackers we thought they were; we liked them a lot. Maybe next year I can come back as a Cadet Cadre and have some real fun!
This was a great place. They tought me in 5 days what my parents tried to teach me for years (compasion, teamwork...)

I would have been hats-off to the poor soul who would have been brave enough to do that...

:) Thanks. You have no idea how sick to my stomach I was in that knockout picture... I was all "okay, don't be nervous, the Captain (guy behind us) won't ridicule me that bad if I lose-- Your only representing your entire unit..."

...Hey, now you know what Sergeant Col.Kell looks like :P
