MechWarrior 2: Resource Forum

Greetings everyone,

I've gone through a number of topics here but have found none describing my problem. I've installed Mechwarrior 2 on my laptop through regular installation instead of DOS, patched it up, and set the compatibility to Win95. I start the game and it runs fine at first, albeit in a non fullscreen mode. However the problem arises when I try to start a mission or a training op, basically anything that would require the game to put me on the battlefield. For example, after I click 'Launch' on a mission briefing screen, the game blips then returns me to a post-mission briefing saying I have failed the mission. No playing in between the briefings at all. Thoughts?

OS: Windows Vista 32-bit
Version: Windows 95, Pentium Edition

Vista does not support 16-bit/DOS applications, so you need DosBox to run the game in Vista. MechVM can set it up for you automatically, but you need to create a CD image with a CUE sheet in either case. IIRC CloneCD produces these.
