MechWarrior 2: Resource Forum

As you all know, we all are mech2 enthusiasts. However, we all do not only play mech2. I want to suggest a subforum that sorta caters to the various genres we do play, in an effort to continue drawing people to staying in our IRC chat room more.

This is how I am suggesting breaking down the Sub Forum

• Other Games We Play
• Action
• Adventure
• MMO
• Simulation -- Other than Mech2 (can include the rest of the mech series tho)
• Classic Games
• Console Gaming (including all Modern and Past Consoles -- also to please the console gamers in our group)
• Turn Based/MegaMek (might as well combine the current Megamek threads there)
• Other

Could use this as a template to maybe the future subforum
but of course, that is up to the people, and the moderators

I guess if anyone else had a suggestion on what the subforum should look like, you should post a reply

A good idea, Pepsi. It would give us a chance to discuss other games, like your favourite, Halo!

I have to admit that I also play games other than MW2, and would like to share my insights into some of them. But wouldn't one thread per game be enough? Also, I don't think we need to split a new "Other games" section into several subsections, some of these sections might see little action. If I turn out to be wrong, we can create new subsections later as needed ...

I guess I could compare it to something like the Mechwarrior 2 subsections. Why not just combine all the Mechwarrior 2 sections into one major thread?
I like the organization of having multiple sections. Again, it would be ultimately up to the Mods, but if there was a certain section that lacked activity, or a real worth, then we could just delete that section out.

This is the Mechwarrior 2 Resource Forum, I think if anyone wants to have non-mechwarrior/battletech related topics on this forum, they should have to navigate to a sub-section or sub-forum within the mechwarrior/battletech related sections.

Mechwarrior was on here first!

Having many sections filled with posts on how great other games are would send the wrong message, IMO. When people come here, I want them to see what's cool about MW2 rather than divert their attention towards other games. That's why I'm not so fond of the whole idea of giving too much room to the discussion of other games on this forum.

I'm not so much against having one section to discuss other games. It gives regular posters an opportunity to share good finds and shows that our attention is not limited to games that are more than a decade old.

It's easier to create sections when they're needed than to sort out the mess after a section sees "to few posts". And deleting sections along with the posts in that section shouldn't happen at all.

although true this is a site specifically geared towards mech2, the (my) idea is to attract the attention of those who still are still mechwarrior 2 enthusiasts, but have moved on to other things.

For example, I am a mech2 enthusiast, and I sit in the IRC channel and idle myself there (not as much as before), but I rarely play mech2 nowadays. NotSid plays more Halo

Although this probably wouldnt bring people consistantly on IRC, it might make people come back and look at whats going on in the site and (more likely) check whatever board they posted in the past

oh and I would think the "OTher games" section would be on the bottom of the site, like where megamek section is
