All you need to do to play online is download this

it isnt the full version of mechwarrior 2, just netmech (which is the online only version of mech2)

The dl is the netmech Dos download...The game you need is in there.

Ah, I see. So for me to use custom mechs and keyboard layouts, I need to have my Mech2 W95 installed and do the necessary stuf in it, and then export them to Netmech.

What DOSbox version do I need? How will the Mech2 work on my comp which is Duron 1.2Ghz with 256MB of RAM and GF2 MX400 with 64MB of DDR?

You do not need to download dosbox. All you really need is the
download above; it is presetup with dosbox and everything. To play it there is no configuration necessary besides a resolution change before you launch. Now your computer is another story, you may not be able to play it very well. The only way to know whether it is even playable on your system is to ask to play a game on IRC once you have downloaded and installed the game.
